Athletes Political Role
Tennis champion Naomi Osaka stepped onto the court for this year's U.S. Open tournament wearing their names of the countless Black Americans who've been killed by the police. She says "Before I am an athlete, I am a black woman. And as a black woman, I feel as though there are important matters at hand that need immediate attention. If I can get a conversation started in a majority white sport I consider that a step in the right direction." See more here
Collective Clothes
Collective clothes is a modular clothing system that invites people to create clothes together. An open source manual explains how to make the four different shapes that together create a complete outfit. They current exhibit at Eight Cubic Metres in Amsterdam. See more here
Digital Garden
A growing number of people are creating individualised, creative sites that move away from the one-size-fits-all look and feel of social media. These are called "digital garden”, a metaphor for thinking about writing and creating that focuses less on the resulting "showpiece" and more on the process. They may be escapist or a new hopeful form of social media and a way of cleaning up your digital space. See more here
Rwanda’s Succes Story
Despite its limited resources, Rwanda has vowed to identify every coronavirus case, using systems and equipment it already had in place to address HIV. Using technology solutions like testing algorithms, robots and drones they help to reduce the pressure on their health system. Read more here
